According to the Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) e-HKD Pilot Programme Phase 2 Report (October 2025), the pilots were conducted as proofs-of-concept without public metrics on wallet count or transaction volume. Phase 2 completed October 28, 2025 with 11 use cases including tokenized deposits, programmability, and offline payments. HKMA announced on November 13, 2025 that preparatory work for a potential retail e-HKD will continue through H1 2026 while prioritizing wholesale CBDC development including mBridge participation.
